Susan Jordan

Susan Jordan's art is inspired by the confluence of cultures of New Mexico. Her work includes figures that evoke smiles, create delight, and bring warmth to a room. Using the gourd as her medium, she uses wood burning techniques to define the design, translucent finishes to enhance the gourd's natural patterns, and carvings to enrich the piece with intricate detail. She says, "The magical qualities of New Mexico - the colors, light and culture - influence my art. My gourds are my 'heart song.' A sliver of my soul is within each piece."
